New Book on Sustainability Features the Research from Three Global Network Schools
Big ideas for the future of sustainability were the focus of this month’s Yale Environmental Dialogue Symposium. The Symposium convened thought leaders from across sectors to formulate, discuss, and debate new ideas for solutions to today’s major environmental problems. Throughout the Symposium, participants generated ideas around the role of cities, the future of smallholder farms, how law can address the climate crisis, how we can shift our thinking to create equitable and lasting change, and more.
Center Director Dan Esty spoke at the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center about corporate sustainability in Latin America.
The last Sustainable Finance Monthly Seminar of 2018 hosted Adam Zurofsky, Deputy Secretary at the Office of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. The Sustainable Finance Monthly Seminar features leading practitioners and experts in the field of sustainable finance and investing who speak about the challenges and opportunities in the field. The event was co-hosted by the Center, the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, the Yale School of Management Energy Club, and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies Energy student interest group.
On Monday, October 29th, the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication hosted the Political Climate podcast. The podcast takes a bipartisan look at climate and clean energy policy and fosters an open dialogue across party lines on politics and the environment.
The Yale Initiative on Sustainable Finance (YISF) is a new program in partnership with the Center for Business and the Environment. Laura Brush (FES ‘19) interviews Diane Strauss, the Program Director of YISF, to learn more about this exciting new venture, her work, and how YISF is addressing challenges to integrating sustainability concerns into financial markets and investment decisions.
Dan Esty is the Director of the Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy (YCELP) and the Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy. Dan sits down with Lucy Kessler, the YCELP Communications RA, to discuss his new article “Red Lights to Green Lights: From 20th Century Environmental Regulation to 21st Century Sustainability,” on the need to shift the approach toward environmental regulation to embrace a new sustainability strategy for the 21st century.
