The Environmental Performance Index (EPI), was released January 22nd in Davos, Switzerland at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. YCELP Research Assistant, Lucy Kessler, sat down with the Zach Wendling, the EPI Principal Investigator, to discuss the 20th anniversary of the Index and his key takeaways from the report.
Last year, global trade accounted for 60% of world Gross Domestic Product. However, in addition to contributing to GDP, the global trade regime is also responsible for a wide array of environmental impacts–including natural resource damages, pollution and climate change.
Kicking off Climate Week 2017, Dan Esty, the Director of the Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy (YCELP) moderated a panel titled “Unstoppable Force” that explored the role of states, cities, and businesses in implementing the Paris Climate Change Agreement.
