Sebastian is an environmental data scientist specialized on climate change and biodiversity protection. He uses a range of data-driven analytic and modelling approaches to quantify sustainability issues, from biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation to climate change emissions and air pollution. He derives insights from data to help guide environmental policy and maximize the performance of sustainability investments.
Sebastian has a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University, where he worked with Jonathan Levine investigating how species interactions across heterogeneous landscapes mediate ecological and evolutionary responses to climate change.
Sebastian joined YCELP in 2022 to lead the 2024 cycle of the Environmental Performance Index.
