Born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula in California, Daniwas inspired by the social involvement of conservation in her hometown to complete her B.S. in Biology from the University of Washington in 2017. While her studies focused on animal physiology and conservation, she also achieved interdisciplinary honors by taking additional coursework in philosophy, architecture, and political science as she quickly understood that focusing on science alone would not create solutions to global issues. In her Fulbright scholarship to Taiwan in 2021, she embarked on a cultural exchange where I developed new ideas for pedagogical change across cultures and the importance of intercultural competence in international policy. At YSE, she is building off of her diverse background in science and education to help further bridge the gap in scientific communication in the field of international conservation and energy policy. She is seeking quantifiable analysis coursework focusing on private industry and government stakeholder interest to understand more of how natural resource management agencies can work with private interests to respond to the urgent climate crisis.
