Christiana Figueres Receives 2020 Honorary Degree

Monday, May 18, 2020

The Center would like to express our deepest congratulations to Christiana Figueres, an internationally recognized leader on global climate change,  who will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree to signal her achievement and immense contribution to environmental and social activism.  As executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, she worked across national boundaries and competing interests to galvanize nearly two hundred countries as parties to the Paris Agreement.

In 2016 at an event hosted by the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies Ms. Figueres discussed the urgent new phase necessary in the fight to curb global warming.  She also joined Center Director Dan Esty to discuss  the Paris Climate Agreement in a studio interview.  Click here to view their discussion.
